Sunrise & sunset in Singapore
Singapore sits just 1.3° north of the equator, so day length stays remarkably stable throughout the year — about 12 hours and 10 minutes, varying by only a few minutes between the longest and shortest days. Sunrise is around 06:55–07:10 SGT and sunset around 18:50–19:15 SGT year-round, with the earliest sunsets around November and the latest around July.
Twilight phases in Singapore
First light (civil dawn) begins about 25 minutes before sunrise, and last light (civil dusk) ends about 25 minutes after sunset. Because Singapore is so close to the equator, twilight is short — the sun rises and sets nearly vertically, so the sky transitions from light to dark faster than at higher latitudes.
Why sunrise/sunset times barely change
At higher latitudes, sunrise and sunset shift dramatically with the seasons. Near the equator, the sun is always nearly overhead at noon, so the day length stays close to 12 hours all year. Singapore has no daylight saving time — clocks stay on Singapore Time (UTC+8) throughout the year.
