The official flood-alert feed is quiet. That can change quickly in a stalled thunderstorm. Check the rain radar if the sky is dark.
If water is across the road
- Turn around. Depth is hard to judge from a car, and an open drain can sit under the surface.
- Do not walk through fast-moving water to check if it is shallow.
- A red, stalled cell on the 50 km radar is the usual setup for a flash flood.
