Mandai forest and reservoirs cut the heat island. Nights run cooler than downtown. Afternoon storms that grow over the catchment often start near here. Outdoor parks should treat thunder as a stop, not a pause.
On monsoon days the 480 km radar shows the surge. On still afternoons the 2-hour nowcast for the north towns is the better local call.
North Singapore
The north coast feels the Northeast Monsoon more than southern estates: windier, a little cooler, with a fetch across the Johor Strait. Forested catchment towns also run cooler at night than the downtown core.
